About the Client
Emily Kay is a freelance graphic designer and website designer. She specializes in creating unique brand identities and developing innovative website designs for forward thinking business leaders and entrepreneurs.
About the Project
Emily Kay is a graphic designer who works with local and international companies as well has educates and mentors other graphic designers. As her client list grew and her educational niche became more specific, we designed a brand that best described her style & creativity while supporting her goal of becoming an educator.
The website, designed in Squarespace, was created to allow Emily Kay to showcase her portfolio work, talk about her community involvement, as well as host an e-commerce platform to sell digital downloads.
Logo Design
Emily Kay’s logo was design inspired by vintage/retro art. We created a typography that had strong lines and unique, turned detailing. Since the logo had no additional icons or graphics, we created additional variations of the primary logo that can be used for social media, product design, and more.
Colour
Just like the logo design, the colour palette was inspired by vintage/retro pop-art. With colour theory in mind, we built a palette that was evenly distributed with dark and light colours with a very strong accent colour.
Colour Theory:
Dark Green - ambition, transition
Light Blue - trustworthy, reliable, innovation
Orange - enthusiasm, creativity, encouragement
Website Design (Squarespace)
We created a simple website with the main focus being to showcase the designer, her work, community involvement, and a shop for her digital downloads. It was very important to the designer and Acorn’s design team to create a website that was not just pretty, but also accessible to ALL users.
